Kayak Kickstand - Frequently Asked Questions

What do they cost?
$50

My local dealer doesn’t have them yet - where can I buy one?
More and more dealers are adding this new product every day.  So far we have over 100 stocking dealers.  Call us at 715-755-3405 and we will send you to the nearest one or recommend a mail order or online dealer.

My specific kayak is not listed on the fit chart – does the kayak kickstand fit mine?
We have successfully tested the kickstand on most common kayaks, but due to the 1000’s of different models on the market, we have not confirmed all of them.  In general, any kayak with traditional coaming (a spray skirt lip) around the cockpit will work great.  The only kayaks tested that didn’t fit the kickstand are sea kayaks with very small “keyhole” cockpits combined with thigh braces (like the Prijon Seayak).  The “dashboard” of the Old Town Dirigo requires mounting the kickstand in the back of the cockpit.  Likely, the dealer you buy from will be able to test it on a boat like yours.

Can I use a spray skirt with my kickstand?
A spray skirt cannot be used simultaneously with the kickstand.  Fortunately, it is very easy to remove and stow the kickstand when you are in your kayak and are underway, so you can put your skirt on until the end of your trip.

What else can I use the kickstand for?

  • Dry and comfortable entry and exit
  • Deep water wet entry (used with a paddle float)
  • Storing your paddle while fishing or taking photos
  • Holding your fishing rod while paddling

Do I need tools to install the kayak kickstand?
No tools or wrenches are required for installation.  We recommend that you assemble the components on dry land so you don’t lose any fasteners overboard.  After you assemble it, all the parts stay together and you only need to loosen and tighten the knobs to put it on or take it off.

Will it scratch my kayak?
No; the clamps that hook the kickstand to the kayak are rubber coated, so it won’t even leave a scratch.
